Nebraska Celebrates Renewable Fuels Month This May

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA —Today, producers, farmers, ranchers, and families across Nebraska celebrate the start of Renewable Fuels Month. This statewide observance is an opportunity to recognize the valuable contribution that renewable biofuels like ethanol and biodiesel make — not only in our communities and across our state, but throughout the U.S. and around the world.

Nebraska produces the second-most ethanol in the nation, with 24 ethanol plants currently in service. This supply is blended into more than 95 percent of the country’s fuel supply — which not only lowers costs and emissions for drivers nation wide, but dramatically increases demand for Nebraska’s corn and livestock industries, too.

Renewable Fuels Nebraska Executive Director Dawn Caldwell issued the following

statement:

“As families across the country get ready to enjoy the summer driving season this month, let’s celebrate the hardworking men and women who help fill their tanks with cleaner, cheaper, renewable fuel grown right here at home: Nebraska’s producers, farmers, and ranchers.

“Of course, our bioeconomy doesn’t just benefit our fellow Americans. The ethanol industry employs more than 1,400 Nebraskans across the state, helping provide for their families and invest in their communities. Nebraska biofuels also boost the rest of our agricultural industry, too, by driving up demand for our farmers’ corn and decreasing costs for our ranchers.

“This month, we’re excited to tell the story of how renewable fuels make the Good Life even better— as well as to share how we can all help Nebraska remain a leader in renewable fuels for years to come.”

Governor Jim Pillen is scheduled to issue an official proclamation designating May as Renewable Fuels Month on May 1st at 9:00 a.m. at the Nebraska State Capitol in the Warner Legislative Chamber.

Fueled by Nebraska, a partnership of Nebraska biofuels organizations, and the Nebraska Soybean Board, invite you to join them to celebrate renewable fuels in your classrooms, at work, and in your community this May. Learn more and find ethanol retail locations at fueledbynebraska.com.
