‘E15 Is the Drum We’re Banging’: Nebraska Ethanol Leaders Meet with Ag Secretary Rollins

The Secretary of Agriculture visited eastern Nebraska over the weekend, hosting a roundtable with ag leaders.

Wayne Garrett of Chief Ethanol Fuels represented ethanol producers on behalf of Renewable Fuels Nebraska.

He said he enjoyed good discussions with previous cabinet members but praised Rollins for a new tone.

“She’s very gracious and considerate and I think the thing that impressed me the most, you could tell there was a sense of attention on trying to take the points that were made and execute on those things,” Garrett told the Rural Radio Network.

He said he felt there would be a genuine attempt to carry those comments back to D.C.

As for specific asks, Garrett said the focus for ethanol supporters is clear.

“Our position was about E15. E15 is the drum we’re banging all the time. We see the value in more ethanol at the pump,” Garrett said, saying higher blends available year-round will offer high octane, low cost fuels that are cleaner.

Lee Zeldin, the EPA administrator is scheduled to visit Nebraska soon. Garrett said the corn and ethanol delegations plan to be there to share their message to a man with a great deal of power on biofuels.
